Colour-matched curtain poles: how the service works
Most curtain poles are chosen from a stock chart. Cameron Fuller works the other way round: the hardware is hand-finished in Devon to the colour your room is actually painted. Here is how the colour-matching service works and how to use it well.

What the colour service is
Alongside an extensive standard palette, Cameron Fuller offers a bespoke colouring service: poles, finials, brackets, rings and holdbacks finished to a colour you specify, in their own Devon workshops. Because everything is made and finished in one place, the whole fitting arrives in one consistent colour, down to the brackets. Even the metal tracks can be finished to match a scheme.
The practical result: the pole stops being a compromise you picked from a chart, and becomes part of the paint scheme itself.
Three ways to use it
- Match the walls, and let the pole disappear. A pole finished in the wall colour all but vanishes, leaving the fabric and the window to do the talking. The quiet-luxury default, and the right call when the curtains are the statement.
- Match a paint name. Working to a specific paint colour on the woodwork or joinery? The hardware can be finished to that name, so pole, skirting and window trim read as one considered decision.
- Pick a colour up from the room. A tone lifted from the curtain fabric, a rug or the kitchen cabinets ties the window into the scheme without matching anything exactly. This is how designers make a room feel resolved.

Start from the standard palette
You may not need bespoke at all. The standard range is unusually deep: sixteen hand-finished wooden colours from Chalk and Ivory through Ash and Nimbus to Walnut and gilded specials, and eleven metal finishes from White and Oyster to Bronze, Graphite and Chrome. How ordering works
- Tell us the window, the scheme and the colour you are working to. A paint name, a fabric swatch or a photo of the room all work as starting points.
- Check it against the scheme first. Colour samples are available, so you can hold the finish against the wall or the fabric before committing.
- We confirm the finish as part of specifying the order, along with diameter, length, finials and brackets, and we stand behind the date we give you.
Mass-produced hardware is finished in bulk, long before anyone knows what colour your room is. Cameron Fuller's collection is designed and made in their own UK workshops, which is what lets them finish to order. It is the reason a colour-matched pole is a genuinely different product, not a repaint.

Should the pole match the walls or contrast with them?
Match the walls when the curtains or the view should lead: the hardware recedes and the room reads calm. Contrast when the pole is part of the look: black or bronze against pale walls, or a gilded pole in a deep-toned room. Both are deliberate choices; the service simply makes the first one possible.
Does colour matching cost more or take longer?
Bespoke finishing is quoted and scheduled as part of specifying the order, and we confirm both the price and the date with you before anything is made. Tell us the scheme and we will come back with specifics rather than generalities.
